Backgammon

Backgammon is one of the oldest games, it is the oldest recorded game in history, originated in Mesopotamia. The game was played on wood surfaces, with stone markers and dice made of pottery or wood by the leaders and aristocracy.

The popularity of Backgammon increased in the 1960's with the first official World Championship organized by Prince Alexis Obelensky.

Backgammon is a two-person game played with stones on a board or table. The movement of the stones is decided upon the throw of two dice. The board has four sections called tables, each marked with six narrow wedges in two alternating colors.

These two colors represent the two opposing sides marked as 15 white and 15 black stones. Stones are moved from point to point in opposite directions based on the number of points shown on the dice. On getting all 15 of his stones into his own home table, a player may begin "bearing off". The player who first bears off all of its 15 stones wins the game.
